We start with a ZINCALUME® steel base. ZINCALUME® steel has a aluminium/zinc/magnesium alloy coating that delivers outstanding anti-corrosion performance.We apply a conversion layer to the surface of the steel to improve adhesion. We then bake a polyester primer onto the surface.

Finally, we apply the top coat - a specially developed, exterior grade paint that is baked on to ensure maximum resistance to chipping, peeling and cracking.

VMZINC is ideal for the prized facade and external cladding systems. As architects continue to seek sustainable cladding materials, zinc will continue to be specified in a diverse range of uses including residential, commercial, public, buildings, educational institutions and a variety of interior applications.

Zinc is a non-toxic, durable, recyclable and plentiful material. As an essential trace element, zinc is also vital to biological equilibrium and growth. Zinc used in the building industry is 100% recycled, putting it far ahead of many other materials which are just taking their first steps in recycling.

VMZINC is a cladding material which has evolved greatly from its humble beginnings in the Australian and New Zealand markets. Taking the traditional European roofing product to new heights, rolled VMZINC is being used locally at an increasing rate.

VMZINC provides the freedom to create architectural masterpieces which are difficult to realise with other construction materials. It is very malleable and can therefore meet virtually every architectural demand and provide solutions that less flexible materials cannot.

VMZINC is suitable for all roof pitches above 3° (5%) and for all types of shape (straight, curved, folded).

VMZINC is composed of very high quality zinc Z1 (99,995% pure zinc), as defined by the EN 1179 standard, to which titanium and copper are added. Copper increases the mechanical resistance of the alloy, making it harder and stronger.? Titanium increases creep resistance permitting greater thermal expansion and contraction of the material without causing metal fatigue.

For over 160 years VMZINC has been providing innovative building solutions for architects and contractors around the world. VMZinc Plus® is an exceptional product which combines our high quality rolled zinc titanium alloy with a long lasting and high density coating applied to protect the underside of the material from corrosion.

Unique Metal Cladding Systems is also able to supply and install VMZinc Plus®.

This innovative product extends the capabilities of regular VMZinc in the following ways:

  • it makes installation possible on roof decking made of incompatible materials, like plywood or other treated timbers,
  • it makes installation possible in a “warm roof” application where the underside of the zinc and support are not ventilated,
  • VMZ Zinc Plus® can be bent, folded or profiled without any surface changes, thus allowing the use of identical installation methods to VMZ non-plus.

Alpolic

ALPOLIC is an Aluminium Composite Material (ACM) and is a very popular cladding material in projects with a modern look and feel.

Unique Metal Cladding Systems used Alpolic in a recent project at Rosebud (Enter a link).

ALPOLIC and its affiliated products have the following common features that stem from our coating and laminating technology;

  • flatness: completely flat panel with high rigidity,

El Zinc is an extremely cost-effective range of titanium rooled zinc products suitable for use in roofing, external cladding and interior applications.

Unique Metal Cladding Systems has worked extensively with ALUCOBOND on a project in Laverton, Melbourne.

ALUCOBOND perfectly adapts to a building’s contours and flowing elements. It is the combination of formability, flatness, stability and weather resistance that characterises this cladding material. Due to its composite structure, ALUCOBOND can take on many different shapes. Though both stable and flat ALUCOBOND can be perfectly formed without any loss to its rigidity.

BRASS

Brass is an alloy of copper.

Brass includes all the benefits of copper, however is used more for decorative and feature purposes due to its heritage style and gold appearance to the metal.

Brass is an option which performs and patinas extremely well in the natural environment.

COPPER

Copper cladding is very durable and lightweight compared to other materials and techniques, and at the end of the building life it is also 100% recyclable.

Given the recent publicity about high metal prices, it may be surprising for most people to learn that copper is a very cost-effective cladding and roofing material. With good building design, materials choice and craftsmanship, copper roofing / facade cladding can be cheaper than slates or concrete tiles, especially when one takes into account the lasting colour, durability, maintenance-free and lightweight nature of the cladding.

The ductility and malleability of copper make it an easy material to form over irregular roof structures. Domes and other curved roof shapes are easily formed and handled with copper.

Timba is a classic material that has become increasingly popular for external and internal cladding applications due to its beauty and ability to blend into the surrounding environment.

Using a quality hard-wearing process similar to powder coating, the Timba Panel not only mimics the colour, but also has the appearance, of real timber. The Timba Panel offers a cost-effective and maintenance-free alternative to real timber, and is available in twelve finishes reflecting a range of hues in natural timber colours.

The Timba Panel has the durability of steel while requiring very little maintenance.

It will not split, warp or splinter, and does not require refinishing or resealing.

SOLID ALUMINIUM

COR-TEN STEEL

Weathering steel, best-known under the trademark COR-TEN® steel, is a group of steel alloys which were developed to obviate the need for painting, and form a stable rust-like appearance if exposed to the weather for several years. COR-TEN® steel's unique look and naturally oxidizing finish make it especially desirable for many architectural projects. Weathering steel has increased resistance to atmospheric corrosion when compared to other steels.

COR-TEN® resists the corrosive effects of rain, snow, ice, fog, and other meteorological conditions by forming a coating of dark brown oxidation over the metal, which inhibits deeper penetration and negates the need for painting and costly rust-prevention maintenance over the years.

In simple terms the steel is allowed to rust and that rust forms a protective coating that slows the rate of future corrosion.

STAINLESS STEEL

Stainless steel roofing and walling is the recommended material for coastal areas within 100 metres from breaking surf or within close proximity to industrial emission. Stainless Steel is corrosion and stain resistant.

In architectural applications, stainless steel is often used because of its attractive appearance. Facades, interior cladding, lifts and escalators, handrails and parapets are some of the most typical areas of stainless steel use.

Stainless steel is suitable for any flat, pitched or curved roof geometry.

Stainless steel products are available in many different finishes. The range of surfaces varies from subdued greys, to bright mirror-type finishes. And they will all change their appearance as they reflect even subtle changes in the lighting conditions around them.

Aluminium

Aluminium is a lightweight but strong metal. The aluminium itself is powder coated to protect it, and is available in a variety of colours.

Aluminium is the third most commonly occurring element in the earth’s crust, making it a more affordable material for external wall cladding and roofing.

It is age resistant and non-sensitive to UV rays and reflects the heat.
